The exchange between Jesus and the Samaritan woman remind us of the mercy of our Savior Jesus Christ as He pours out the forgiveness of sins upon us. Water is a significant part of God’s holy plan of salvation culminating in the sacrament of Holy Baptism where our Lord uses water to clean, redeem, forgive, and mark us as His chosen people.
At the end of January and the beginning of February, these words were shared with our brothers and sisters in Christ in Southwest Uganda. During the six days on the ground, missionaries from MOST Ministries Team 1804 shared the good news of salvation while delivering water filters, engaging in discussions on the fundamentals of agriculture, and teaching the benefits of health and hygiene.
The team traveled to six churches and one school where they covered the basics of the Sawyer Water Filter cartridge care and handling, helped identify and propose remedies for cattle management, and explored options in crop and soil enhancement. The children of the churches participated through the health and hygiene classes where they were taught the importance of clean hands, “catching” your cough and sneezes, and being aware of germs and how they spread.
The trip culminated in celebrating the gift of fellowship with our brothers and sisters as we shared the Body and Blood of Christ with Pastor Benson and his congregation. His efforts and endeavors are unprecedented in the proclamation of the Gospel to the people of Uganda. Each member of the team brought back a piece of Uganda with them spiritually as we were strengthened in faith every day. In the end, we learned the true meaning of “lifting one another up…” as we shared in God’s work together with our “brothers” (See 1st Corinthians) in Uganda. We give thanks to our Father in Heaven for the opportunity to serve, learn, and grow in our faith while in Southwest Uganda.
