In taking on the responsibility of becoming a short term missionary, we want you to know what you can expect of MOST Ministries and what we expect of you. This will lay the foundation for a successful mission experience.
- Go through the training materials in their entirety
- Attend all pre-field meetings
- Complete the Bible studies - pre-field and re-entry
- Have a servant’s heart, be flexible, and positive
- Cooperate with the Team Leader and his/her decisions made on your team’s behalf
- Comply with MOST Ministries’ policies
- Pray for yourself, the team, the Team Leader, the host and the people you will serve
- Recruit prayer support for the team and for the planning process
- Be a role model for Team Members in all aspects of servanthood; to each other, to the team as a whole, to the ministry staff, and to those whom you will serve
- Be a communicator to Team Members, church leadership and the congregation regarding information received from MOST Ministries
- Work with the church Business Manager/Treasurer to receive Team Member payments and send one check to MOST Ministries for each payment due
- Recruit Team Members or other individuals to share responsibilities, such as:
- Church PR
- Fundraising
- Cultural research
- Recruiting prayer support
- Planning the report back to congregation
- Plan and facilitate pre-field team meetings
- Provide MOST Ministries Team Administrator with a schedule of your pre-field meetings
- Be flexible
- Be an encourager
- Be a spiritual leader and encourager to all Team Members
- Be experienced in cross-cultural ministry and international travel
- Be spiritually, culturally, and logistically prepared
- Communicate with the Team Liaison and Team Members regarding updates to the logistics and schedule both pre- and on-the-field
- Organize and lead pre-field team meetings for project training
- Coordinate with Team Liaison in pre-field planning (i.e. meetings and Bible study)
- Lead nightly debriefing sessions on-the-field
- Be responsible for making decisions on-the-field in coordination with the host
- Be prepared for and manage any crisis that may arise
In addition to the services listed under “What Services Does MOST Ministries Provide” the ministry will:
- Be available to the Team Liaison for phone and email consultation, and also to church leadership and Team Members, as needed
- Be the communication link between the team and ministry location
- Make final determinations along with the ministry site as to location, dates and service of mission
- Inform the Leader & Liaison of any changes and developements regarding teh mission trip
- Provide suggestions for any materials needed for execution of the mission service (crafts, witnessing tools, VBS, etc.)
- Make all on-field logistic arrangements (food, housing, tranportation, etc.) as needed for location
- Provide a trained Team Leader who trains and accompanies the team
- Provide all necessary team training materials
